Up in the highlands of Chiapas exist a somewhat reclusive group of women known as the Chamulas. One can easily distinguish them from others as they wear an ankle length, thick, hairy, black wool skirt. Wool is the primary source of their weaving and livelihood. It takes awhile to get used to seeing this group of intriguing people. We could not pass up the sets of 100% natural wool coasters with colorful yarn stitched designs they were selling.
