Paulo Cortes
As a young boy growing up in Central Mexico, Paulo Cortes spent much of his spare time learning the tin craft in some of the better local workshops. By the time he had reached adulthood, he had both the expertise and desire to branch out on his own. Today, aided by his brothers and brothers-in-law, Paulo creates some of the most innovative designs in the tin industry. Together, the family blends traditional Mexican designs in tin, with variations applied when new ideas come to mind. Although hand-punching tin into creative designs is more of a “newer” craft, its importance worldwide has definitely solidified it as a traditional Mexican art form.
